Six shows in one place, where the entire fashion industry meets. Première Vision Paris is where 62,000 industry professionals from over 120 countries come together to share ideas, do business, work and build their new collections.
The show is exceptionally inspiring due to forward-looking fashion information. It was all rather overwhelming, the size of the halls were outstanding. Banners flowed down from the ceiling, giving hints as to what was underneath. The amount of different fabrics, fibres and textile prints were dizzying, but I felt this was contrasted nicely to the calm, soft atmosphere the venue gave off. It was quite relaxing, with no harsh lighting or music blaring- i was ready to tackle it head on.
Premiere vision was broken into 6 different categories or shows- Yarns, fabrics, leather, designs accessories and manufacturing. My first stop was indigo, or designs. It brings together a rigorous selection of specialised international studios to present their latest collections of textile prints. I was astounded purely by the sheer quantity of the studios there, let alone their amazing work and skill to create these prints. The majority of the prints were digitally produced, but there was a number of hand painted and unique prints which added a variation to the show. Not one print did I pass and not appreciate the talent put into it. It was also wonderful to see universities with a stall, showing off and selling their students work. It gave something to aspire to, it gave me hope that one day I could produce something special.
Of course my favourite hall was the leather and furs hall. I wanted to touch, grab and stroke every it of animal skin I could get my hands on. Perhaps i should have been put off when you could still make out the shape of the animal, but for some reason this made me want it more. There were bear skins to zebra manes- This show really had it all.
